Experience the latest innovations live! 

How intuitive is the user interface of the HOMAG optimization software? Can a cutting cell with a robot be the solution to the shortage of skilled workers in the skilled trades? What are the advantages of innovative edging technology in everyday production? Answers to these and other questions will be provided at the HOMAG Treff 2024 under the motto "Where sawdust flies and inspiration lands".  

The unique thing about the in-house exhibition is its "test drive” character, because here visitors can experience the latest HOMAG developments live and in action. For this purpose, individual machines as well as complete production lines and production lines are set up in the factory halls in Schopfloch and Holzbronn. The numerous machine and software demonstrations, exciting technical presentations and discussions about trends and innovations promise to be informative and interesting. At the Schopfloch site, visitors can even expect an entire exhibition area dedicated to HOMAG software, apps, and digital assistants. The experts from SCHULER Consulting will also be on site to discuss specific automation potential for production in the furniture and timber construction segment with interested parties. The focus is on measures to optimize the production process, reduce costs and achieve targeted digitalization. 

The HOMAG teams for software and service as well as numerous industry exhibitors and partner companies, including BENZ Tooling, DÜRR AG, tapio and others, will also be there. In short, the HOMAG Treff promises first-hand information and lots of innovations – from panel cutting, CNC machining and edging to software, automation, and digitalization 

CNC Machining: New entry-level solution up to robot support 

As part of the CNC machining exhibition, a varied mix of innovations and established solutions will be shown in Schopfloch and Holzbronn. In addition to the launch of a new entry-level machine, the focus is on parts handling and robot support. From the basic level for craftsmen to industrial production, current solutions and future projects will be presented. 

The CNC highlights at HOMAG Treff 2024 are: 

  • The DRILLTEQ D-110 CNC drilling and dowel inserting machine, which is the latest addition to the HOMAG line-up. It is the new entry-level machine for horizontal drilling and dowels with up to 3 individually retrievable drilling spindles and a maximum of 4 workpieces. 
  • The STORETEQ F-100 single-axis feeder demonstrates flexibility and efficiency in panel handling and feeding of the CENTATEQ  
    N-210 CNC machining center. With minimal space requirements, it supports nesting in a material-friendly, automatic, and fast way.  
  • Automated stacking after nesting processing is demonstrated by the STACKBOT C-300. A gain in handling with considerable time savings.  
  • The vertical CNC machining center DRILLTEQ V-310, "The Raumwunder", is supported by the FEEDBOT D-310 robot. The reliable workpiece supply of the robot system, supplemented by a return with turning function, makes the DRILLTEQ V-310 a high-performance production center and thus the optimal production cell for the lower-level production.

Even better horizontal drilling and dowels  

The new entry-level machine DRILLTEQ D-110 has exactly two tasks: horizontal drilling and dowel insertion. And that makes it more effective than ever. With up to three drill spindles that can be called up individually and a space allocation of up to four workpieces, it offers a wide range of services. In conjunction with the woodWOP 8.1 CNC programming system, it forms a strong partnership. In this case, the drilling and dowel processing in height and depth is automatically preset in the respective program and automatically called up during processing. The dowel equipment used (consisting of dowel chamber, dowel unit and vibratory conveyor) has already proven itself in higher series. In the future, it will also be used in the DRILLTEQ D-110 and can be used across all series. 

Nesting is now much more effective - The STORETEQ F-100 single-axis feeder optimizes CNC machining - the STACKBOT C-300 perfects it  

Two things are crucial for furniture manufacturers and carpenters when it comes to nesting: flexibility and efficiency. The STORETEQ F-100 single-axis feeder for the CENTATEQ N-210 and N-510 CNC machining centers enables exactly this – material-friendly, automatic, and fast handling – with minimal space requirements. It is therefore a real benefit for all companies that decide for the nesting process and want several stacks of panels to be easily accessed. 

Space-saving and modular 

With the STORETEQ F-100, you decide for yourself where the stacking locations are located – individually tailored to your nesting processes. In this way, tailor-made layouts can be put together depending on the requirements. Another advantage: The single-axis feeder is available in different configuration levels and can be configured according to your power requirements. Easily integrate one or more machines and multiple stacking positions. 

Intuitive control on one operating terminal  

The powerTouch control directly on the machining center via the woodStore storage software, which ensures smooth loading, is particularly intuitive and simple. The result is a complete craft cell – including convenient off-cut management: The portal fetches the next panel by vacuum crossbeam from the stacking area next to or behind the CNC, turns it 90 degrees if necessary, and then places it on the roller conveyor of the CENTATEQ. When the CNC is finished with the previous panel, the next one is already ready. Everything is fully automatic and just-in-time.

Automatic destacking with robot support 

Nest-picking with the STACKBOT C-300 will be shown for the first time as part of a pre-launch at the HOMAG Treff. The official presentation will be at LIGNA 2025. Thanks to the final combination with a robot for stacking, the nesting cell consisting of STORETEQ F-100, CENTATEQ N-210 and STACKBOT C-300 is a fully equipped high-performance center. The robot, which is equipped with a camera, can simply recognize the individual parts without barcodes based on the data stored in the program and chaotically stack them up to four target locations. A gain in time and ergonomics for the operator, as well as efficiency for the subsequent processes. 

Fully automated carcass processing with robot and return system  

The DRILLTEQ V-310 has been an old stager since its presentation at Holz-Handwerk in Nuremberg 2022. It is now fully established, but HOMAG continues to create further developments – like at this year's HOMAG Treff, where it forms a fully automated cell, supplemented by a FEEDBOT D-310 and a return system with a reversible function.  

The reliable workpiece supply of the robot system makes the DRILLTEQ V-310 a high-performance center and thus the optimal production cell in the trade. As preliminary information, the robot is equipped with the latest camera technology for identifying the parts. This configuration will be available from LIGNA 2025. Then hand-formed stacks, without stacking lists, can then be easily recognized by the robot and easily loaded and stacked by means of a digital check based on the label and the workpiece contour. 

The advantages of supplementing the system with a robot are obvious. It does not have to take a break, can work around the clock in the workshop and can ensure consistently high quality. Small and medium-sized companies save time and reduce the workload for their staff by using them in the future. 

The workpiece return with reversing function is ideally matched to the characteristics of the CNC machining center and thus leads it to a perfect result: complete machining. Six-sided machining, which previously required workpiece reinsertion, now runs automatically into a flow. It is not necessary to reload between processing the 5th and 6th pages. A "yes" to the automation of the DRILLTEQ V-310 is not a question of company size, but a prerequisite for greater efficiency. Thus, workpiece return is worthwhile for anyone who operates a CNC machining center in their production. 

HOMAG edge banding machines: Automation solutions from small to large 

From the entry-level solution with automated edge banding machine and workpiece return to the new portal return with stacking function to the high-performance solution for industrial series or batch size one production. 

The highlights at the HOMAG – Treff 2024 are: 

  • High-performance solution – The U-line with four EDGETEQ S-800 edge banding machines enables production both in series operation and with batch size one.  
  • The newly developed LOOPTEQ O-400 impresses with its high performance and extremely compact design. Thanks to its high degree of automation and the combination of stacking system and workpiece return, it sustainably increases productivity in production – with ergonomic and economical operation by just one person. 
  • With the latest technology from the industrial segment, the EDGETEQ S-200 convinces. The smallest HOMAG edge banding machine now has functions such as servo edge feeding, flexible magazine height adjustment and vacuum suction cup-based strip separation. In addition, there is a new application unit that enables the adhesive to be changed in less than three minutes.  
  • The EDGETEQ D-610 profiLine for formatting, profiling, and edging two sides in a single pass. It is used in the production of medium to large series with high performance and low retooling. 

High-performance solution: U-line 4x EDGETEQ S-800 

The U-line with four EDGETEQ S-800 edge banding machines allows you to produce both in series operation and in batch size one. Even during maintenance work, it is possible to continue production on two machines at a time without having to compromise on size, angle, or quality. The new LOOPTEQ O-400 gantry return takes every production to the next level! The advanced combination of a stacking system and workpiece return optimizes the production process and makes it more efficient. The elevated level of automation of the edge banding machine ensures a smooth process and makes it possible to reject or stack finished workpieces easily and quickly. 

More productivity, less strain - The LOOPTEQ O-400 not only improves productivity, but also the working conditions for employees. It reduces physical strain and creates room for efficiency. Thanks to the economical 1-man operation, the freed-up personnel resources can be used more effectively.

The smallest HOMAG edge banding machine now has functions such as servo edge feeding, flexible magazine height adjustment and vacuum suction cup-based strip separation. In addition, there is a new application unit that enables the adhesive to be changed in less than three minutes. This simplifies and accelerates production.

    By adjusting the magazine, the edge protrusion on the underside can be increased.  
  • Strip separation 
    By using a suction cup, it is very advantageous to separate thin veneer, HPL or composite strips with an edge thickness of 0.4 to 1.0 mm.

Perfect solution for getting started: Optimized robot saw SAWTEQ S-300 / S-400 flexTec 

The SAWTEQ S-300 / S-400 flexTec robot saws have an integrated robot and are technically designed in such a way that they can conduct batch size one production over longer distances unmanned. Alternatively, the saws can be conveniently operated by hand – completely flexibly and as required.  

In order to take into account the increased shortage of skilled workers – especially in medium-sized companies – HOMAG has developed a new entry-level configuration of the SAWTEQ S-300 / S-400 flexTec robot saws. Thanks to individually configurable components, this offers the full range of functions of semi- and fully automatic production at a more cost-effective entry-level price. Based on the new standard, the part output, flexibility in automatic mode and ease of use in manual operation can be increased if required.  

The new products at a glance: 

  1. Robots and bases: Latest generation of robots, adapted robot position and revised robot base 
  2. Alignment of the panels (individually configurable component): In the standard without alignment device (panel is extended and aligned by robot), optionally alignment "on-the-fly" or with alignment device possible. 
  3. Labeling on the advanced pressure beam (individually configurable component): In the standard version, labeling is carried out fully automatically at predefined positions parallel to cutting. The premium version is optionally available with individual labeling positions. 
  4. Redesigned part buffer: Revised construction incl. contact surface made of grooved MDF. 
  5. Air cushion table area (individually configurable component): In the first aisle with one-piece fold-down air cushion table and three inserts in the second and third aisles as standard. These can be removed when switching to manual operation and hung on the safety fence. Optionally, fold-down air cushion tables can also be installed in the second and third aisles.  
  6. Swiveling and tilting multi-touch display: New operating position on the pressure beam including quickTip – the assistant for an optionally adjusted machine.  
  7. Manual label printer (individually configurable component): Not included as standard, but available as an option for even more flexibility in part identification.  

New option in CADmatic: Reproduction of parts 

The reproduction of parts is complex in several respects: It costs time, money, and material. Nevertheless, many companies are confronted with it in their everyday work. Reasons for this can be decorative errors, part curvatures due to stresses in the sheet material, edge chipping, as well as damage or incorrect processing of parts that have already been cut.  

With the new CADmatic option for reproduction of parts, the parts can now be easily collected in a post-production list and then transferred to optimization, e.g., Cut Rite, intelliDivide or CADplan. Here, the parts are combined in new cutting plans before they are produced on the saw. Information on the label allows the reproduced parts to flow transparently back into the overall process – quickly, easily, and error-free.  

The CADmatic option is available for all saws. On the SAWTEQ S-300 and S-400 series, the option can also be obtained via function+. Good to know: The reproduction of parts in combination with the toleranceCheck increases part quality in a simple, dependable, and transparent way.

Another highlight of the HOMAG Treff in Holzbronn is the storage technology. In addition to the new storage range, HOMAG will be presenting the new functions quickTip and intelliStore AI – Offcuts of the woodStore 8 storage software. Here, HOMAG once again proves how artificial intelligence and machine learning can sustainably improve storage system management. This is because the storage system not only makes the best decisions independently based on data, but also proactively contacts the machine operator in order to exploit the full storage potential.  

The new products at a glance: 

  1. quickTip: The assistant for optimal storage management 
    quickTip is a new assistance function integrated into the HOMAG storage system control for the highest quality, ease of use and performance. It proactively supports the machine operator by making setting recommendations – so that the full storage potential can be exploited at all times. The advantage: All quickTips are listed centrally in woodStore – this makes work easier, improves storage management and enables easy panel handling. 
  2. intelliStore AI – Offcuts: Sets new standards in terms of leftover processes  
    intelliStore AI – Offcuts enables automatic offcut storage on defined panel stacks distributed in the storage area – depending on the variety of panels and part portfolio, storage movements are reduced by up to 40% and space utilization is also optimized.  

In addition to storing offcuts on panel stacks, automatic offcuts can still be stored in classic offcut storage locations. Furthermore, a combination of both methods is possible – woodStore Analyzer continuously evaluates the storage data for this purpose and shows which method is most efficient. This reduces storage movements associated with offcuts, increases flexibility and performance, and optimizes space utilization and energy requirements.

Digitalization: Apps & Software 

The starting signal for digital woodworking has already been given and digitalization is gaining more momentum. As a result, the HOMAG portfolio of apps and software solutions is also growing and constantly evolving. At the HOMAG Treff, HOMAG will present new functions in various apps that have been jointly developed and implemented at the request of various customers. Another focus is on a new software interface that brings consistent data use across all software solutions a step closer. 

productionManager: Reproducing components and forming lots 

In many companies, the challenge of maintaining an overview of all orders and keeping the order data of all employees up to date is growing. Regardless of whether the employees are in work preparation, production, or assembly: With the digital job folder, productionManager, everyone has access to all information about every order in real time. But that is not all: the app also makes the current status of individual components transparent, and you always keep track of the status of your orders.  

productionManager not only supports carpenters in the fight against the chaos of paper…it is now available with two new functions: Rework and lot formation! 

Everything in view – including rework!  

Having many orders means that many components pass through several stations within production every day. It can happen, for example, that a component is accidentally damaged, and rework is necessary. Rework often leads to longer waiting times, increased, unrecorded material consumption and additional time expenditure as ongoing orders are interrupted. In addition, many companies ask themselves the following question: How can rework be incorporated into the production process in a regulated manner without generating much effort? productionManager solves these challenges and ensures organized processes for your reworks. 

Organized rework of components 

The components to be remanufactured are entered directly in production and appear automatically in the work preparation in productionManager. The digital job folder offers flexible options for this: You can scan the component and send it directly or optionally add further information, such as the reason for the error, photos and additional comments or attachments in the form of documents. You can choose the one that applies to you from existing error categories. 

Fast and regulated thanks to digital communication 

Another advantage: In addition, there is the option of informing the responsible employee directly in work preparation and also in production. This is done via a notification in the app and the rework can be processed directly. In addition, the status of the reported components is visible. 

Since the rework are recorded digitally, communication runs smoothly, without manual intermediate steps, and the reworked part flows quickly and smoothly back into the production process. This means that you can track the status of your reworks at any time in the order progress of the productionManager and view them in production. 

Ready, set, form your lots! 

The brand-new "Lot generation" function now offers another plus point in the digital job folder: From now on, you can easily combine your orders into production lots. This not only increases productivity, but also reduces your material consumption at the same time, as orders can be intelligently bundled and transferred directly to a cutting optimization of your choice. This gives you an overview of your orders to be scheduled. Your production lots are displayed directly in the productionManager and clearly managed. This means that every employee knows at all times what status (e.g., "New", "Ready for Production", "In Production") the production lots have and at what point in time a production lot is completely completed. 

Make lots and save money! 

The new function offers you the possibility to bundle orders based on important key figures (e.g., the same panel or edge material). In this way, you noticeably reduce your material consumption, as orders with the same materials are optimized together for processing. Not only do you save money, but you also increase your productivity at the same time, because components with the same panel and edge materials are produced together. This can reduce set-up processes during cutting (sawing or nesting) and on the edge banding machine. Other key figures, such as the number of furniture pieces to be assembled, make the impact of your formed lots on production immediately visible. 

Forming production lots – starting with cutting optimization 

Your production lots can be transferred directly to a cutting optimization software of your choice and processed directly from there. If you are working with intelliDivide Cutting or Nesting optimization software, your production lot will be transferred directly with a click and the optimization will start automatically if desired – without manual intermediate steps and additional opening of the intelliDivide app. If you are working with Cut Rite(t) or another optimization tool, you can export the list as a CSV file and easily import it into your optimization.

Which carpenter does not know this challenge: The manual creation of cutting patterns provides additional hours in work preparation that could be used elsewhere. Want to minimize the additional time required and achieve efficient results in optimization? This is what intelliDivide – the web-based optimization software from HOMAG for panel dividing and nesting – offers. 

Intelligently optimize cutting patterns 

intelliDivide works very simply: Conveniently upload the bill of materials to intelliDivide and start the optimization with just one click. The calculation of the cutting patterns is automatic – without any manual intermediate steps, so that employees can save time and use it sensibly elsewhere. The distinctive feature: intelliDivide calculates different solutions at the same time and clearly displays the alternatives. Depending on the range of parts, material mix and order size, up to nine different results are possible: minimal offcuts, simplest handling, lowest material costs or the shortest processing time. Which cutting pattern fits best? The user decides for himself, depending on his needs and current requirements. As a first result, the balanced solution is always suggested to the user. Since several alternatives to the cutting patterns are available, the user determines intuitively and depending on the daily goal which cutting pattern is selected. The clear presentation of the results makes it possible to record the most important key figures immediately. Material costs, production times and material consumption – all at a glance. 

Easy to use, intuitive and clear 

Thanks to the user-friendly user interface, anyone can get started with intelliDivide right away. The optimization orders including all properties are clearly displayed. In the overview, all cutting patterns and the associated optimization details are clearly highlighted. Individual areas, such as the part, material, or key figure view, are immediately visible thanks to the structured arrangement. The buttons contain signal colors so that the user is guided safely and quickly to the next work step. 

All alternatives at a glance 

Furthermore, intelliDivide offers the possibility to conveniently compare the calculated alternatives with just one click. The tabular arrangement ensures a direct comparison of the most important key figures, so that the user decides on a suitable solution even faster and easier. But that is not all: A color distinction between high and low-key figure values in green and red underlines the clarity and supports the tabular view. 

Flexible and powerful: no investment or hardware costs 

Since intelliDivide is a browser-based optimization software, there are no maintenance or update costs. The software is always up to date. The user only needs Internet access and can start optimizing directly, regardless of their operating system. All employees use a common company license. This eliminates the license fees per employee, which makes daily work much easier, as several employees of a company can use intelliDivide at the same time. intelliDivide can be booked as a monthly or annual subscription. This keeps the investment costs low, and the customer can decide for themself when and for how long they want to use the software.

Optimize more intelligently with templates 

In panel optimization, the individual components are usually arranged arbitrarily in the raw board in order to achieve, among other things, minimal waste. If, for example, the fronts of a piece of furniture are to be given a coherent veneer pattern, they must be next to each other in the cutting pattern during the optimization process. For the deliberate holding of components together and cutting them in a given arrangement, you now have the option of using templates in intelliDivide. In this way, intelliDivide simplifies your panel optimization and provides even more flexibility in the cutting process. 

Template library ensures diversity 

A library with a diverse selection of templates is available directly in the app. Regardless of whether you want to cut two, three, or four parts, intelliDivide offers you an appropriate template for many variants. The selection of the template and the assignment of the components within the template are done directly in the parts list. 

Working with templates – it is that easy! 

Since the templates are already available in the app, you can get started right away and use the new function without any problems. In the first step, import your parts list into intelliDivide. You can then select a template from the library for each component and assign an exact position within the template to the corresponding part by clicking on it. The template name and the position of the component in the template can also be transferred directly when importing the parts list. In the automatically generated cut list, the selected template is clearly displayed with all assigned parts. An integrated preview gives you the opportunity to check the template component with the corresponding dimensions before you start the optimization with just one click. 

During optimization, all parts are now held together in the template and sawn as one workpiece. In a second cutting pattern, the template is then separated into its individual parts. 

Use of AI: Predicting production time just got more accurate!  

The intelliDivide optimization software for panel dividing is not only always one cut ahead, but also uses state-of-the-art technologies in the form of artificial intelligence (AI) to make production processes even more efficient. 

AI-supported prediction of production time 

Until now, production times have mostly been calculated using fixed formulas. Machine-specific factors or other factors, such as the operator's handling time, are not recorded. The result: a too-large deviation between forecasts and the actual production time that is required.  

The cutting optimization tool intelliDivide Cutting has the right solution for this: With the help of an AI-supported model, the predictions of production times are calculated more accurately and thus significantly improved. This ensures optimized planning and allows more precise calculation of offers. The implemented machine learning-based model uses anonymized production data from saws connected to tapio. Another plus point is that the machine's production times are continuously fed into the AI model in order to continuously improve the prediction of newly calculated cutting plans based on real values. 

Hand-in-hand with the woodStore storage management system 

A new interface between the intelliDivide cutting optimization system and the woodStore storage software ensures simplified scrap management and a continuous data flow.  

From now on, all material data, inventories and panel remnants stored in woodStore are automatically available for the intelliDivide Cutting optimization. Offcuts are transferred to woodStore after cutting and suggested for reuse during the next optimization. 

New HOMAG sales solution: Rubens 3D Product Configurator 

The success of digitalization in woodworking companies depends on numerous factors. An important focus here is on the consistent use of data from the sale/point-of-sale through all subsequent processes – all the way to the delivery of the furniture. Against this background, HOMAG set out to find a supplementary module that would complete the range of software solutions along the process chain for furniture production and extend it to the B2C sector. The search resulted in a partnership with the Austrian software company Roomle and its online tool for the flexible configuration and sale of individual furniture.
