Karl Weinmann passed away at the age of 70
The founder and long-time managing director of WEINMANN Holzbausystemtechnik GmbH, Karl Weinmann, passed away unexpectedly on October 6, 2023, at the age of 70.
After studying mechanical engineering and working as a development designer, Karl Weinmann set up his own design office in 1982 and, together with Alfred Schlegel, founded WEINMANN + Partner in 1985, the predecessor company of the present WEINMANN Holzbausystemtechnik GmbH. He served as the company’s managing director until 2016.
At a very early stage, Karl Weinmann, together with the managing directors Alfred Schlegel and Hansbert Ott, recognized the possibilities and advantages of serial construction with wood as a material and, with his wealth of ideas, created the conditions for the worldwide construction of affordable housing using prefabricated elements and modules. With a large order from the SchwörerHaus company, the production of machinery and equipment for the production of prefabricated wooden houses picked up speed in 1993. As early as in 1996, WEINMANN supplied the equipment for the largest and most modern factory for prefabricated houses in Europe.
The integration of WEINMANN into the HOMAG Group in 1998 facilitated the worldwide distribution of the products. In 2005, WEINMANN thus became the world market leader in the field of systems for prefabricated house construction. Today, WEINMANN employs over 200 people.
With his tireless efforts, Karl Weinmann made a significant contribution to the growth and world market leadership of the company. For Karl Weinmann, success was always based on the performance of the entire team. It has always been a matter close to his heart to enable employees to develop in their personalities and in their work. Even after he left the management, he maintained close ties with the company and the workforce. Until the end, he was still active as a coach for employees and managers, and his advice was gladly listened to and accepted.
On behalf of all employees, the Management and Works Council of WEINMANN as well as the Executive Board of the HOMAG Group express their condolences to the entire Weinmann family.
